Design

The building and implementation of thoughts and visions, is the fun challenge of any project.

Enjoyment

A crucial element to the finished product, is it's ability to bring the user or the viewer a sense of bliss and aesthetic contentment.  This may involve a piece and/or the totality of the environment.

Audio Bunker

This was a total build from an empty basement space. It was created in partnership with Johnny Clow, Owner, All Aspects Remodeling of Asheville, North Carolina; which was responsible for the framing, drywall, pipe re-routing, and all structural matters.

This space was designed and built to be a music listening room.  It is wired with a 13.2.4 Dolby Atmos / DTS:X / Auro 3D speaker configuration; although room acoustics are geared for two channel listening.   Except for the mains and subs, all channels are discretely housed  in the walls and ceiling.  These are not "in-wall" speakers; they are full cabinets inside the walls, with a custom exterior screen, painted to match the room.   It is also 4K projector ready; and if the need should arise, ILDA compatible wiring for full lasershow capabilities has been installed.  Although the project is not 100% completed, still awaiting  acoustic panels for the front wall, and some minor alterations to lighting effects; the room has been putting a smile on the client's face for months.

Items and features that were designed and built by EELZ Design Works, are noted in the captions with "EDW".

The down angles of the upper wall, helps mitigate low frequency build up in corners. They also give way to the lighting in the alcove. EDW

    Audio / Video Rack

The design of this component rack arose from a lack of clear or opaque, adjustable shelving units available. These may by adjusted by one inch increments along two parallel, steel, slotted channel struts. This configuration simplifies adding and subtracting components, as well as being available in any height upon request. The channels are angled back from the base at 78 degrees, allowing the rack to self-balance without a need for anchors. The "floating" shelves are made from one inch ballistic glass; this dense polymer has a very high damping coefficient, which is ideal for sensitive audio and video equipment. As a bonus, it also passes light through with a soft, pleasant diffusion. This is taken advantage of with motion sensing, rear mounted, addressable RGB LEDs; which add atmosphere to any environment. The lighting effects can vary from one of a dozen static colors, a myriad of combinations with innumerable patterns, lumens, fade and off.
